Born to a cantor, the young Rasumny made his inaugural foray onto the stage at the tender age of 14, subsequently embarking on a grand tour of Europe and South America alongside the esteemed Moscow Art Theatre.
Years later, in 1935, Rasumny transplanted himself to the United States, where he eked out a living by taking on various occupations, including that of a bill collector and dishwasher, in between acting engagements.
It wasn't until 1940 that Rasumny made his debut on the silver screen, appearing in the film Comrade X (1940),marking the beginning of a long and storied career replete with an array of ethnic roles that would come to define his professional trajectory.
