When his wife is brutally murdered, Marshal Matt Morgan sets out to avenge her death. The only clue is a distinctive saddle left at the crime scene, which leads him to his old friend Craig Belden, now a powerful cattle baron. Belden's sympathies are short-lived, however, when Morgan discovers that one of the killers is his own son, Rick. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, Morgan is determined to bring Rick to justice and catch the 9:00 train. But as he faces off against Belden and his men, Morgan realizes that he may be in for the fight of his life.
