Here is Carolyn Sue Jones' biography:
Carolyn Sue Jones was born in 1930 in Amarillo, Texas, to homemaker Chloe Jeanette Southern and Julius Alfred Jones, a barber. She had a sister, Bette. As a child, Carolyn suffered from severe asthma and loved movies, but was often too sick to attend. She listened to her favorite actors, Danny Kaye and Spike Jones, and read movie fan magazines.
Carolyn attended the Pasadena Playhouse, graduating in 1950. She worked as an understudy and was discovered by a talent scout from Paramount, leading to her first film role in The Turning Point (1952). She then worked in television and on stage, meeting her future husband, Aaron Spelling, in the process.
Carolyn made a breakthrough in the 3-D movie House of Wax (1953) and garnered excellent reviews. She was married to Aaron in 1953 and they had a successful career together, with Carolyn starring in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) and The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956).
Carolyn's marriage to Aaron started to fail, and they separated in 1963 and divorced in 1965. She continued to work in television, including two episodes of Burke's Law, and landed the iconic role of Morticia Addams in The Addams Family (1964). The show was a hit, but was cancelled after two years.
Typecast as Morticia, Carolyn found it difficult to find new roles and eventually married her voice coach, Herbert Greene. After seven years, she left him and returned to Hollywood, where she found success in several shows, including Wonder Woman (1975) and Roots (1977).
Carolyn was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1981 and underwent aggressive treatment. She continued to work, despite being confined to a wheelchair and working in great pain. She married her boyfriend, Peter Bailey-Britton, in 1982 and died on August 3, 1983, at the age of 53. Her epitaph was "She gave joy to the world."
