Cherie Chung, a renowned actress, was born on February 16, 1960, in the vibrant city of Hong Kong. Prior to entering the film industry, she made a notable appearance as the third runner-up in the 1979 Miss Hong Kong Pageant.
Chung's subsequent foray into the film world led to her becoming one of Hong Kong's most beloved and beautiful actresses. She went on to star in numerous comedy and drama films, often alongside the illustrious Chow Yun-Fat, in notable productions such as the award-winning An Autumn's Tale (1987).
Throughout her career, Chung also explored other genres, including action, horror, and fantasy. Some of her notable roles include Sister Yuen in Sammo Hung's ghost comedy The Dead and the Deadly (1982) and Hsiao-Hsueh in Eric Tsang's Golden Swallow (1987).
In 1991, Chung bid farewell to the entertainment industry and married Michael Chu, a prominent advertising guru in the United States. Chu was recognized for his impressive achievements in the Hong Kong advertising industry, and sadly, he passed away on August 24, 2007, due to stomach cancer.
Since her marriage, Chung has been actively involved in promoting environmental protection and has even established a furniture store in Hong Kong.
