Yamuna and her son Laxman flee their abusive home in search of a better life in Mumbai. They find refuge with Yamuna's aunt, Chandra, who helps Yamuna secure a job as a sweeper at an art school. However, Yamuna soon discovers that Chandra has been posing as a nude model for the school's students, and Chandra convinces Yamuna to take on the role as well, claiming it will help the students view her as a project rather than an object of lust.
