Henry McBride, a down-on-his-luck cowboy, finds work at a dude ranch, where he meets Jessie King, a no-nonsense rancher with a passion for horses. Through her, McBride discovers a new approach to training a troubled mustang, whose past and temperament mirror his own. As their paths intersect, King sees a shared spirit in McBride and the mustang, hidden beneath their pain and anguish. She believes McBride is a good man at heart, just as she thinks the mustang can rediscover its spirit. The story follows McBride's journey of redemption, helping him overcome his deepest wounds and discover a new life.
