The sequel to Harp in the South follows the Darcy family as they strive to improve their circumstances in the challenging social landscape of the 1950s.

The Darcy family struggles to build a better life in the early 1950s, despite the challenges they face. After the death of their oldest daughter Roie, the family is left broken and grieving. Her husband Charlie turns to drink to cope with his loss, forgetting about his children in the process.
