During the Great Depression, a businessman named Sol Glass proposes using the women in his stenographic department to entertain clients, hoping to liven up the usual routine and give them a chance to socialize. However, Tom's fiancée Flo is initially hesitant to mingle with clients, until she's needed to seal a deal with Daniel. After discovering Tom's infidelity with Birdie, Flo starts working with Daniel again, and everything seems to be going smoothly until Daniel asks her to close a contract with Haines.
