In 1928 New York City, two taxi-cab owners, Tim and Eddie, struggle to make a living with their single cab. Their fortunes change when Tim falls in love with a burlesque dancer, Sadie, and she helps them acquire a motor for their second cab. However, their happiness is short-lived as they become embroiled in a gangster's plot and are eventually arrested by the police.
