College students Jim and Grace pick up a hitchhiker, John, in the New Mexico desert, but soon discover he's a psychopath. After a violent encounter, they try to warn a family about John's danger, but their car crashes, and they find the family brutally murdered. John then targets Jim and Grace, leading to a deadly game of cat and mouse.
