A sudden and inexplicable phenomenon strikes the village of Midwich, where everyone and everything falls into a profound slumber. Later, a mysterious phenomenon unfolds as all fertile women become pregnant, giving birth to children who exhibit alarming growth rates and share striking physical characteristics, including blonde hair and unsettling, hypnotic eyes that exert an unsettling influence over those around them.
