In a small Yugoslav village, a group of women are shorn of their hair as punishment for allegedly having affairs with Nazi soldiers. Four of the women confess to their guilt, while their seducer, a Nazi sergeant, is left emasculated after being caught by partisans. The women, escorted out of town by the Nazis, eventually join a group of mountain guerrillas, forming a romantic and military bond.
