A small boy aspires to be a cowboy, mastering the fundamentals before facing a Native American attack. He depletes his ammunition, but outsmarts the situation by lassoing his enemies and forging a bond with their leader. The boy then intervenes in a stagecoach robbery, declines a reward, and goes on to rescue a train from a sabotaged bridge and a girl trapped on a cactus. Ultimately, he returns to his ordinary suburban life, with a memorable ride into the sunset.
