Marion, a 50-year-old Dean of Philosophy, is on sabbatical to write her book. She has recently married Ken, who pursued her while still married to someone else, and is struggling to reconcile her past and present relationships. As she navigates a series of incidents with her loved ones, Marion begins to question whether her cerebral and judgmental nature has been alienating to those around her.
