Franklin and his friends return to school after a fun summer, only to find a new substitute teacher, Ms. Koala, replacing Mr. Owl. At first, Franklin dislikes her when she makes him move seats, but as the class gets to know her, they learn to appreciate her positive attitude and enthusiasm for trying new things. Meanwhile, Harriet's friend Beatrice struggles to adjust to preschool, but finds a new companion in Kit, Beaver's little brother, after a minor mishap.
