Eleven-year-old Chala lives with his mother, an addict, and earns a living by training fighting dogs. His violent environment sometimes bleeds into school, where his teacher Carmela tries to reach him. When Carmela falls ill, a new teacher struggles to connect with Chala and ultimately transfers him to a behavioral school. Carmela's return sparks a fight against the changes in her classroom, and her bond with Chala puts their positions at risk.
