A group of aimless youths, including a boy and girl, struggle to find purpose in their lives amidst ineffective and distant family relationships. After Christine is caught stealing and forced into a nursing home, she escapes and joins Gilles at a house shared by other young people. Together, they embark on a journey south, seeking a bohemian commune where artists live, and they survive by sleeping rough along the way.
