In 1916, adventurer Corto Maltese awakens in Paramaribo, Suriname, to help a young man named Tristan, who's being haunted by voodoo spirits. The spirits are trying to prevent a sleazy lawyer from gaining control of Tristan's inheritance. Corto teams up with Golden Mouth, a mystical medium, and Professor Jeremiah Steiner, a former scholar, to decipher a mysterious map and uncover the truth about Tristan's inheritance. Along the way, Corto gets involved in a treasure hunt, partnering with traitorous friends to find a long-lost Spanish treasure.
