The story of salsa singer Héctor Lavoe's rise and fall, told through the eyes of his wife Puchi, who reflects on their life together in 2002. Héctor's journey begins in the early 1960s, when he leaves Puerto Rico for New York and quickly finds success as an artist. However, his growing fame is accompanied by a downward spiral of drug use, partying, and depression, ultimately leading to his downfall.
