Gebo, an accountant worn down by age and exhaustion, continues to work to provide for his family. He lives with his wife Doroteia and daughter-in-law Sofia, but the absence of his son João weighs heavily on them. Gebo's secrecy about João's whereabouts, particularly from Doroteia, fuels her anxiety to see her son again. Meanwhile, Sofia longs for her husband's return, yet harbors a deep-seated fear.
