The 2nd Marine Raider Battalion, formed seven weeks after Pearl Harbor, is a team of volunteers tasked with conducting raids on Japanese-held islands. Despite their diverse backgrounds, the men share a common toughness. Under the command of Colonel 'Thorwald', they undergo rigorous training in all forms of combat. Their first mission takes them on a perilous submarine journey to Makin Island, where they face off against a much larger Japanese garrison in a lengthy and intense battle.
