Jason Avery, a former cop, now a museum security guard, is faced with a daring heist. Armed thieves infiltrate the museum to steal a priceless, glowing crystal dinosaur egg-like obelisk. The thief claims the obelisk will grant him control over harpies, mythical winged female monsters. A series of events unfolds, culminating in the obelisk opening a time portal, and Jason finds himself 1,000 years in the past, crash-landing in a land threatened by evil harpies. Initially focused on returning home, Jason becomes embroiled in saving the villagers, who hail him as the "harpy slayer" prophesied to save the kingdom. A gold amulet and a mortal villain seeking to harness the obelisk's power to command a harpy army add to the chaos.
