Hornblower: Duty background

Hornblower: Duty

The wedding celebration of Hornblower is disrupted by an unexpected arrival, as Admiral Pellew assigns a crucial mission to find a missing British ship off the French coast, where Napoleon's forces are secretly active.

Horatio Hornblower, now married to Maria, sets out to find the missing sloop Grasshopper and its captain, Bracegirdle, who had been patrolling the French coast without reporting in for two weeks. The search takes them through a raging storm, during which they take on two suspicious passengers, an American woman and her French-speaking Swiss husband. As they navigate the treacherous waters, they encounter the traitorous Irish rebel, Wolfe, and uncover his sinister plan to aid the French navy. Meanwhile, Horatio adjusts to married life, learning to balance his duties as a husband with his responsibilities as a naval officer.
