The Earth is under attack by an alien species that kidnaps and kills humans and animals, using their body parts for unknown purposes. In response, the Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organization (S.H.A.D.O.) is established in 1980 to protect the planet. Operating from a secret location beneath a film studio in London and with bases on the moon and in the ocean, S.H.A.D.O. uses advanced technology, including Interceptors and early warning satellites, to defend against the alien threat. Led by General James Henderson and Commander Ed Straker, a team of highly trained operatives works to counter the regular influx of hostile UFOs.
