Ma Lei, a Chinese citizen living in Hong Kong, longs for two things: a Hong Kong Identity Card to secure legal work and marriage to her boyfriend. However, obtaining the ID card proves challenging, and introducing herself to her boyfriend's family is even more daunting. Ma Lei befriends her neighbor Ken, and their connection grows. When she breaks up with her boyfriend and moves away, she thinks their paths will never cross again. But fate has other plans.
