In this movie, two kids stumble upon a book in a trash can and discover the story of a poor neighborhood in Mexico City. The narrative revolves around the life of a kind-hearted carpenter, Pepe "El Toro", who lives with his daughter Chachita and pursues a romantic interest in a woman named Chorreada. The story also explores the lives of the neighborhood's eccentric residents, including two drunk women, a sleep-deprived beauty, a prostitute with a dark past, and others. However, the plot takes a tragic turn when Pepe is wrongly accused of robbery and sent to prison.
