Southern University Archeology professor John Benton returns from an expedition in Mongolia with his team, but co-pilot Mason is missing and presumed dead. Benton presents his findings, which could be significant to the Chinese government, before collapsing and dying from poisoning. Captain Bill Street leads the investigation, initially suspecting team members, Benton's secretary, and student James Lee Wong, but ultimately trusts Wong and investigates together.
