Maggie McNamara, a private investigator, is hired to find a missing teenager with her boyfriend. She teams up with environmentalist Paul Grogan to search for the girl. Their investigation leads them to an abandoned army facility, where they discover a sinister plot involving a hybrid species of piranha created by Dr. Leticia Baines. The piranhas are released into the river, heading towards the Lost River Lake Resort. As Maggie and Paul try to warn the authorities, they're met with resistance from the corrupt Sheriff and Maggie's client, J.R. Randolph, who's more concerned about his party than the danger at hand.
