The story follows two brothers, A.C. and Frank, who start a toy company to compete with German imports, despite their father's refusal to lend them the money. Frank enlists, while A.C. is recruited by the government to convert factories for the war effort. Meanwhile, their young son tries to convince A.C. not to cancel Christmas and to continue producing toys, despite the challenging circumstances.
