The Seaver family reunites in this movie, now living in Washington. Jason is practicing, Chrissy is a film student, Mike is married to Kate and struggles with her dominance, Carol is a corporate lawyer, and Ben is working for himself with little success. Maggie is employed by a candidate running for Congress, but quits after a disagreement. The family gathers to celebrate their anniversary, and one of Mike's adopted children encourages Maggie to run against her former boss, causing chaos.
