Jeremy James Miller is an American actor, best recognized for his portrayal of Ben Seaver on the popular television show Growing Pains and its subsequent reunion movies. Additionally, he lent his voice to notable roles in Happy New Year, Charlie Brown and Snoopy the Musical.
Miller's acting career began with a McDonald's commercial, which led to a string of guest appearances on various television shows, including Charles in Charge, Different Strokes, Punky Brewster, and Pryor's Place. He then secured a role in the NBC mini-series Deceptions alongside Barry Bostwick, Stephanie Powers, and Fairuza Balk, before landing the iconic role of Ben Seaver on Growing Pains.
Interestingly, Miller was initially cast in the PBS show Ghostwriter, but the producers decided against including an older ghostwriter team member, and he was not invited back after filming the pilot. One of his most recognizable trademarks is the "Ben Seaver Scream," which has become a staple in many Growing Pains episodes and the movie Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.
Following his stint on Growing Pains, Miller co-starred in the TV movie Based on an Untrue Story alongside Morgan Fairchild, Robert Goulet, Rikki Lake, Dan Hedeya, Victoria Jackson, and Harvey Korman.
Miller then took a break from acting to attend the University of Southern California for a year, where he studied drama. He later pursued his passion for cooking, enrolling in the Culinary Arts program at Le Cordon Bleu, although he left just short of graduating. He founded his own catering company, "No Small Affair," and freelanced as a chef for various LA-based catering companies.
Miller also teaches private cooking classes and group cooking parties. He continues to pursue acting, having co-starred in the film Milk and Fashion in Shanghai, where he enjoys a significant following. He has also appeared in a McDonald's commercial parodying the VH1 series Best Week Ever, and has been spotted in the films Boys and Girls Guide To Getting Down, Ditching Party, Never Have I Ever, The Fish, and Tar Beach.
Looking ahead, Miller will co-star in the upcoming horror film Awakening, as well as two new television shows: a recurring role in the comedy The Comeback Kids and the lead role in the Paranormal Suspense Drama 3rd Eye.
