In the late 19th century, gold discovery in the Black Hills, allocated to the Dakota Indians as a winter reservation, attracts gold diggers, profiteers, and adventurers. Land speculator Bludgeon tries to expel the Indians using brutal methods, prompting the Dakotas to retaliate against a Union Pacific train. After Bludgeon's gang massacres an Indian village, the warriors attack the gold diggers' town, leading to a massive battle. Despite being outnumbered, the arriving cavalry saves the Whites from defeat.
