During World War II, Paramount contractees appeared in United Artists' films due to a shortage of product at United Artists, which had lost production in England. A group of young actors shared finances and an apartment, with one leader ordering no romantic relationships until they made it on Broadway. However, a secret marriage was already underway between two roommates. When a friend discovered the arrangement, she felt compelled to inform the father of one of the roommates, leading the boys to temporarily leave. When the father visited, the girls accused one of the boys of being a burglar to keep the truth hidden. A producer living downstairs also got entangled in the situation.

The film was produced by Paramount and later sold to United Artists in the early 1940s, resulting in frequent appearances of Paramount contract actors in United Artists films during the war years.
