Con Melody, a former nobleman and decorated British officer, now runs a humble Irish tavern in New England, haunted by his past glory. He attempts to regain his wealth by manipulating his daughter's affections for the son of a wealthy manufacturer, but his scheme is soon exposed, and his daughter begins to take matters into her own hands.
