Max is on the cusp of independence as he prepares to leave for college with his friends, leaving his embarrassing father behind. However, Goofy's job loss forces him to rethink his life and decides to enroll in college alongside his son to earn a degree. Max is mortified, but tries to distract his father by getting him to join the Gamma Fraternity team. Despite his initial reluctance, Goofy befriends a librarian who shares his love for 1970's nostalgia, but their bond is put to the test as events unfold.
