A small-town bank is targeted by a group of robbers, led by the Dennis gang. The gang, assured by their contact in town that the marshal, Pete MacKay, is the only one who can stop them, sets out to steal the bank's funds. However, the townsfolk, including storekeeper Jack Wright and his brother-in-law Wally, have other plans. When the gang arrives, Jack's shot from a distance takes out one of the robbers, and the townsfolk quickly rally to take down the rest.

The once-admired store owner, infamous for eliminating the gang's notorious leader, is now shunned by the community, who fear his actions will only spark a cycle of revenge and bloodshed.
