Journalist/photographer Mae Jordan, known as "Emanuelle," embarks on her first onscreen adventure to Africa on assignment. As she witnesses the troubled marriage of her hosts, Ann and Gianni Danieli, she grapples with her own racial and sexual identity. Mae's journey takes a complicated turn as she becomes entangled in affairs with both Ann and Gianni, leading her to flee Africa. However, Gianni, who had earlier rejected her, pursues her, leaving Mae to confront the consequences of her actions.
