With a fierce determination, a young woman from a humble background embarks on a journey to achieve her ultimate goal of becoming a renowned Broadway performer, facing numerous obstacles along the way.

In this movie, a young woman from a small Midwestern town moves to New York City to pursue her dreams of becoming a performer. She takes up residence in a boardinghouse where other aspiring artists are also trying to make it big. In an effort to increase their chances of success, the group decides to form a talent pool, where the person with the most potential gets the full support of the group. The main character, Joan, is chosen to lead the group and help her fellow hopefuls find jobs. However, her plans are threatened when her fiancé tries to keep her away from the stage.
