After World War II, two soldiers, Ted and Dave, return to Britain, where they pursue different paths. While Ted becomes a taxi driver, Dave gets involved with the mob and tries to recruit his friend. When Dave is murdered, Ted discovers his body in his taxi and decides to investigate the circumstances of his death, despite the suspicions of Scotland Yard and the mob.
