A malfunctioning spy satellite hurtles towards Earth, prompting the US government to deploy a powerful laser to destroy it. However, the laser's strike creates a rift in time, sending Monroe High School - including students, teachers, and a fugitive - 20 years into the future. Upon arrival, they find themselves in a desolate world, where they must confront the escaped criminal and a terrifying monster. One student discovers a telepathic connection with his mother, who resides 200 years in the past, and together they locate vital medicine. The students then embark on a perilous quest to find a way back to their own time.
