Elmer, a well-meaning but awkward elephant, attends Tillie Tiger's birthday party, only to be ridiculed by the other animals for his trunk. Feeling embarrassed, Elmer leaves and meets a wise old giraffe who teaches him to focus on his strengths. When Tillie's treehouse catches fire, Elmer and his new friends, including the giraffe and some pelicans, work together to put out the flames and rescue the birthday girl.
