A young singer named Elizabeth lands a prominent music-hall gig, but her opportunity is suddenly hijacked by a newcomer, Victor, who unexpectedly steals the spotlight. When Victor's voice fails him, Elizabeth sees her chance to shine and prove her talent.

A talented delivery girl, Elizabeth, is rejected from her dream music-hall singing audition. Feeling down, she befriends Victor, a struggling Shakespearean actor who lands a female role in a music-hall number, only to lose his voice. Elizabeth, hesitant at first, decides to step in and make her debut as a man, adopting the stage name "Mr. Victoria." Her performance catches the eye of a prominent talent agent, McLintock, who launches her international career. She soon becomes friends with Robert, a charming young man engaged to Princess Mironoff, who is unaware of her true identity.
