His Girl Friday

Hildy Johnson, a star reporter, returns to the office after a four-month absence to inform her boss and former husband, Walter Burns, that she's quitting to get married to insurance agent Bruce Baldwin. However, Walter is unwilling to lose Hildy and tries to delay her departure by making Bruce look bad and offering her a big story about the possible wrongful execution of a cop killer. As Hildy is tempted by the story's potential, she must decide if the thrill of the chase is worth the cost to her personal life.
