Joe Cardos, a death row inmate, is scheduled to be executed in the morning for murdering three women. Feeling bitter, he refuses to see his sister or the prison chaplain, but agrees to a last request: a woman's company for "fun" before his execution. Two detectives bring in Dora, a down-on-her-luck former waitress who tried to drown herself and is willing to spend the night with Joe for financial gain.
