Rachel Moreno, a Criminal Behavior Analyst, creates an experimental drug trial to expose people's dark sides after her fiancé's violent death. She finds funding from a shadowy government group and sets up the project at a Texas facility with her team, including her fiancé's old partner and a physician. Six violent inmates are used as test subjects to test the effects of VEX 555, a psychoactive drug. As Rachel becomes too invested in the project, she starts to show her own darkness, putting the project and everyone involved at risk.
