The wealthy Michael J. O'Connor leaves his 5th Avenue mansion for his winter home, only to have a homeless man, Aloysius T. McKeever, take up residence in the empty mansion. This winter, McKeever befriends Jim Bullock, a struggling veteran, and they decide to share the mansion. The group soon grows to include Jim's army friends, their families, a runaway heiress, her mother, and even Michael J. O'Connor himself.
