In 1876, all Native American tribes are at peace, except for the Comanches led by Black Cloud. After Black Cloud's brutal attack on a town, only six soldiers remain, who embark on a perilous journey to the nearest fort. Along the way, they are joined by stagecoach passengers and find refuge at a deserted mission, where they discover water. With Black Cloud's forces closing in, the soldiers send a captive Indian boy to the fort while attempting to negotiate with the desperate and parched warlord.
