Russian immigrant Boris Mitrov builds a career in the US film industry, befriending influential people and Soviet officials, including KGB colonel Vladimir "Vadja" Kubelov. Despite his loyalty to the USA, Mitrov is asked by the CBI to be a double-spy, using his connections to gain the Soviets' trust and penetrate the Kremlin.
