The movie begins on a remote glacier in the Ural Mountains, where two brothers, Thom and Jock, run a snowmobile tour business. During an excursion, an avalanche crashes down, destroying a nearby village. The brothers team up with Katya, an avalanche researcher, to warn the residents of a nearby mining town that the mine is causing environmental havoc and could trigger a massive super avalanche. However, their warnings are ignored until it's too late. As the townspeople try to evacuate, Jock and Callie, a wealthy entrepreneur's daughter, get trapped in a nightclub buried under 30 meters of snow and debris. Thom and a rescue team manage to reach them just in time, but the glacial ridge collapses, unleashing a massive snow and ice tsunami that destroys the town.
