Sophie and the Rising Sun

Set in a small fishing village in South Carolina during World War II, the film tells the dramatic story of an interracial couple caught up in the turmoil of war. A wounded stranger, Mr. Ohta, appears in the town, and Sophie, a local native, forms a bond with him through their shared love of art. As their friendship blossoms into a forbidden romance, the war escalates, and the town is consumed by patriotism, bigotry, and violence.
